Katrina is an artist & designer currently based at Spode Studios in Stoke-on-Trent, (England), working most with screen printing, natural dyes and painting. Interested in the relationship between people and the natural world, questioning how we can cultivate an appreciation for nature through creative processes. Heavily influenced by her own English/Bulgarian heritage, an appreciation for craft and slow, considered processes is always present in her work.
She has collaborated and worked with various artists, independent businesses, designers and makers on a variety of projects ranging from bespoke artwork, to large scale murals to workshops. She hosts regular Life-Drawing sessions at The Slamwich Club, as well as other drawings workshops in different venues across the North of England. In September, she will begin a MA at the Royal College of Art in Textiles.
In May 2019, Katrina had her first solo exhibition at Entrepreneurs Network Gallery titled: ‘Spaces’ that looked at British Wildflowers and explored our relationship with the natural world - how we connect with that space, with the self and with the community that surrounds us, supported by Grow Wild UK. The 6-week exhibition was a showcase of screen printed textiles, prints, paintings and ceramics, as well as floral arrangements created by Wilderness Floral Design Studio.
Sharing her practice, connecting with the surrounding community and engaging people with art & design are all integral parts of her process.
